Mohd Qayyum

Mohd Qayyum is a 65-year-old resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, who has been dedicated to the traditional sport of 'kabootarbazi,' or pigeon racing, for many years. His family has maintained this practice since the Mughal era, raising hundreds of exotic pigeons that are well-known in the local community. Qayyum has taken great pride in nurturing and training these birds, which have also participated in several competitions. Recently, he faced a heartbreaking situation when 400 of his prized pigeons, valued at around Rs 10 lakh, were stolen from his terrace, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
