Moisés Giroldi Vera

Moisés Giroldi Vera was a Panamanian military officer who led a failed rebellion against the dictatorship of Manuel Antonio Noriega on October 3, 1989. Once a trusted ally of Noriega, Giroldi became disillusioned with the regime's oppressive tactics and sought to instigate change by detaining Noriega during an early morning coup attempt. Despite initial success, his plans unraveled due to a lack of support from the United States, leading to his eventual capture and execution. Giroldi is remembered as a controversial figure, seen by some as a hero fighting for freedom and by others as a man whose miscalculations led to tragic consequences.
