Mons. Arnulfo Romero

Mons. Arnulfo Romero was the Archbishop of San Salvador and a prominent advocate for human rights in El Salvador during the late 20th century. He became internationally known for his vocal opposition to the violence and oppression faced by the poor and marginalized in his country, which ultimately led to his assassination in 1980. Romero is celebrated as a martyr and a symbol of social justice, and he was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2018.
