Morris Portman
Morris Portman was a British administrator and anthropologist known for his expeditions to the Andaman Islands in the late 19th century. He notably led an expedition to North Sentinel Island in 1880, where he encountered the indigenous Sentinelese people. His attempts to study and make contact with them revealed their deep-seated resistance to outside interaction. Despite his efforts, Portman's expedition highlighted the challenges and dangers associated with approaching one of the most isolated tribes in the world, a theme that continues to resonate with contemporary discussions on indigenous rights and isolation.
