Muhammad Farhi

Muhammad Farhi, a 36-year-old shopkeeper in Homs, Syria, has experienced the harrowing impact of the civil war firsthand. After being falsely accused of terrorism and enduring torture during his imprisonment in 2012, he fled to Lebanon with his family. Thirteen years later, following the fall of Bashar al-Assad, Farhi has returned to Syria as part of the 850,000 refugees who have come back home. Now, he strives to rebuild his business and home in a country still grappling with economic devastation.
