Mukhtar Kojaev

Mukhtar Kojaev has been appointed as the new head of the police department in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. Previously, he served as the head of the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and has extensive management and investigative experience, having progressed from an investigator to a senior leadership role within the police force. Kojaev graduated from the Almaty Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1999 and has held various positions in law enforcement across Kazakhstan, including leadership roles in the Mangistau region and the Kostanay region. His appointment follows the dismissal of the previous head of the Shymkent police amid public outcry over a high-profile murder case involving a university student.
