Murupaenga-Ikenn
Murupaenga-Ikenn is a dedicated Northland activist and practice lawyer known for her advocacy on indigenous rights and social justice. Recently, she gained attention for her protest at Te Papa, New Zealand's national museum, where she was charged with graffiti after expressing her concerns over the representation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi). Despite her conviction for the protest, she has devoted her life to fighting injustice, having been appointed to indigenous fellowships with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Judge Peter Hobbs acknowledged her impressive work history but ultimately ordered her to pay $1500 in reparation for the damage caused during her protest.
