Mychajlo Poljakov is a 24-year-old American who gained international attention for illegally visiting North Sentinel Island, home to the isolated Sentinelese tribe. His unauthorized arrival, which involved traveling 35 kilometers by motorized inflatable boat and attempting to attract the tribe's attention with a whistle, raised significant concerns about the risks he posed both to himself and the indigenous people, who lack immunity to modern diseases.
