Naoki Urasawa

Naoki Urasawa is a renowned Japanese manga artist, celebrated for his mastery in crafting intricate thrillers. Born in 1960, he gained international acclaim with works such as 'Monster,' which tells the gripping story of a surgeon pursued by the child he once saved, who has turned into a notorious murderer. Urasawa's surreal narrative in '20th Century Boys' explores a group of friends entangled in an apocalyptic cult, further showcasing his storytelling prowess. Following a period of darkness in Japanese society post the 2011 earthquake, Urasawa shifted towards lighter themes in his latest series, 'Asadora!,' which began in 2018 and has been well-received in France. He recently attended the Rendez-vous de la bande dessinée d’Amiens, where his work was highlighted in an exhibition.
