Nathaniel Bailey is a remarkable 18-year-old para-surfer from Kingston, Jamaica, who has overcome the challenges of arthrogryposis, a condition that limits his mobility, to become the first para-surfer to represent Jamaica on the global stage. Despite being unable to walk since birth, Nathaniel has excelled academically and is currently pursuing a degree in computer network and security. His journey into surfing began during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since led to significant achievements, including a 13th place finish at the International Surfing Association World Para Surfing Championships. Recognized for his outstanding contributions to adaptive sports, he received the Prime Minister’s National Youth Award for Excellence in Sports in 2024, symbolizing his resilience and determination to inspire others with disabilities.
