Nicola Keane

Nicola Keane was a 34-year-old paediatric nurse at Crumlin Children’s Hospital in Dublin who tragically died by suicide in October 2020 after administering a lethal dose of medication to her seven-month-old son, Henry. She had been suffering from postnatal depression and psychosis, a condition that went undiagnosed despite her expressing her struggles. Her death, along with that of her son, has raised significant concerns about the mental health support systems available to new mothers in Ireland.
