Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot

Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot was a French inventor credited with creating one of the first full-scale, self-propelled mechanical vehicles. He is noted for his 1771 incident where he lost control of his steam-powered vehicle and crashed into a wall, marking one of the earliest recorded automobile accidents.
