Nikita Litvinenko

Nikita Litvinenko is a former political prisoner from Belarus who gained notoriety for his harrowing account of detention and mistreatment by authorities during the protests against the government in 2020. Arrested in September 2020, he was subjected to severe physical abuse and coercion to sign false statements. He was sentenced to four years in a harsh penal colony, where he witnessed the deaths of fellow inmates due to neglect. After enduring appalling conditions and administrative punishments, he was released in March 2025 and subsequently sought asylum abroad.
