Nikolaje Čaušesku

Nikolaje Čaušesku was the General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party and the country's leader from 1965 until his overthrow in 1989. His authoritarian regime was marked by severe repression, economic mismanagement, and a cult of personality. Under his rule, Romania experienced significant economic hardship and widespread human rights abuses, culminating in a violent uprising that led to his execution.
