Niloufar Hamedi

Niloufar Hamedi is a prominent Iranian journalist known for her courageous reporting on critical issues within the country. She gained international attention for her coverage of the death of Mahsa Amini, a woman who died in police custody in 2022, which ignited widespread protests across Iran. Her work in breaking the news of Amini's death and highlighting the subsequent public outcry led to her detention, where she was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges including collaborating with foreign entities and spreading propaganda.
