Niyazi Mehdi

Niyazi Mehdi was a prominent Azerbaijani philosopher and literary scholar, born on February 26, 1951, in Baku. He graduated from Azerbaijan State University in Philology and later from Lomonosov Moscow State University with a degree in Philosophy. Beginning his literary career in the 1970s, he made significant contributions to the study of national literature and aesthetic culture, employing modern scientific and theoretical criteria. Mehdi was known for his extensive writings on artistic language, philosophy, literature, and the arts, regularly publishing in periodicals. He passed away recently, and his funeral was attended by family members and various public representatives.
