Nuki Johnson

Nuki Johnson, often referred to as Central North Island’s 'Mr Boxing', is a prominent figure in New Zealand's boxing community. He is credited with the establishment of the North Island Golden Gloves tournament in the mid-1980s, which has since evolved into the largest boxing event in New Zealand. Johnson's vision for the tournament began in 1984 at the Wairakei Village Hall and has expanded over the years to accommodate a wide range of competitors, including elite athletes and novice boxers.
