She served as the First Lady of Colombia from 1978 to 1982 during the presidency of her first husband, Julio César Turbay Ayala. Quintero was known for her humanitarian efforts through the Fundación Solidaridad por Colombia, which she founded in 1975 to aid the underprivileged. Her legacy includes the 'Caminata de la Solidaridad', an event symbolizing service and support for those in need. Throughout her life, she faced significant personal tragedies, including the loss of her daughter Diana Turbay. Quintero passed away on June 30, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving behind a lasting impact on Colombian society.
