Nyze Manuel

Nyze Manuel is a co-chair of Te Ruarangi and the lead of Te Tira Taiao o Te Taitokerau, an initiative that collaborates with hapū, the Northland Regional Council, and the Ministry of Primary Industries to enhance biosecurity measures in Northland. With a strong emphasis on local knowledge and traditional practices, Manuel advocates for community engagement in environmental monitoring and response to biosecurity threats, building on the wisdom of ancestors to foster a collective approach to protecting the taiao (environment). Her leadership has been instrumental in developing frameworks that recognize the importance of cultural and community connections in addressing ecological challenges.
