Octubre Sánchez
Octubre Sánchez is a contemporary Costa Rican artist known for his evocative works that explore the relationship between land, identity, and the natural world. With over twenty years of experience, Sánchez incorporates materials from the earth, such as acrylics and soil collected from various regions, into his paintings. His latest exhibition, 'Código telúrico: anatomía del Paisaje,' held at the Centro Cultural San José, delves into the idea of soil not as an inert backdrop, but as a living archive that embodies the history and essence of the landscape. Through his use of geometric forms and natural textures, Sánchez seeks to reveal the sacredness of the earth and the cultural narratives embedded within it, particularly those of indigenous peoples in Costa Rica.
