Odoacer

Odoacer was a Germanic chieftain who is best known for deposing the last Roman emperor, Romulus Augustulus, in 476 AD, marking the traditional date for the fall of the Western Roman Empire. He subsequently declared himself king of Italy and ruled over the remnants of the Roman state, symbolizing a significant shift from Roman to barbarian rule in the region.
