Her family's small business was destroyed by a Russian bomb, which also claimed the lives of two employees. Seeking safety and better opportunities, Oksana relocated to Slovakia with her ailing daughter and a friend, leaving her husband and son behind. Despite facing prejudices in her new environment, she also received generous support during her difficult transition.
