Oldrich Ames
Oldrich Ames, a former CIA officer, became notorious for being one of the most damaging double agents in American history. In 1994, he confessed to compromising over 30 agents working for the CIA and other intelligence services, leading to the execution of several operatives and the loss of vital intelligence operations. His betrayal stemmed from financial pressures, as he was deeply in debt and was motivated by the prospect of money rather than ideological beliefs. Ames was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
