Oleksandr Alfiyev

Oleksandr Alfiyev is a prominent Ukrainian historian, military figure, and head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory (UINP) since June 2022. He has a significant background in military education, having lectured on history to soldiers since 2014 and actively participated in the formation of Ukraine's military traditions. Alfiyev has also been instrumental in the de-Russification efforts in Kyiv, overseeing the renaming of nearly four hundred locations. As a historian, he is known for his balanced approach and has been involved in promoting Ukrainian-Polish historical dialogue, particularly in light of complex historical events such as the Volhynian tragedy.
