Olena Baltacha was a talented Ukrainian-born British tennis player, born on August 14, 1984, in Kyiv. She rose to prominence in women's tennis, achieving the status of Britain's number one player from 2002 to 2012. Despite facing health challenges, including a diagnosis of primary sclerosing cholangitis, Baltacha became a celebrated athlete, representing Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics. Tragically, she passed away from liver cancer in 2014 at the age of 30. In her memory, the Elena Baltacha Foundation was established to promote tennis and support young players, continuing her legacy of dedication to the sport.
