Olev Raju

Olev Raju was a prominent Estonian politician and academic, known for his long association with Tartu University where he served as a senior engineer, senior lecturer, and associate professor in the Department of Political Economy from 1971 to 1991. He graduated with honors from Tartu State University in 1971, specializing in finance and credit. Raju was an active member of the Centre Party since 1998 and served in the Estonian Parliament during the VIII and IX legislatures from 1995 to 2003. He held the position of Chairman of the Tartu City Council from 2007 to 2009, a period marked by significant developments in the city's infrastructure, including the opening of the Dorpat Hotel and Tasku Centre. Raju was also a candidate for the Tartu City Council in the upcoming 2025 local elections.
