Olga Kniper

Olga Kniper was a talented Russian actress and the wife of renowned playwright Anton Pavlovič Čehov. Born into a bourgeois family of German descent, she struggled to establish herself in the theatrical world and gained recognition as a member of the famous Moscow Art Theatre. Her relationship with Čehov began in 1899 and was marked by both passion and turmoil, particularly due to his struggles with tuberculosis. Their marriage was complicated by long periods of separation, and Olga's alleged infidelity has been a point of intrigue in literary history. Despite these challenges, she continued to pursue her acting career while caring for Čehov during his declining health, ultimately surviving him until her death in 1959.
