Olivette Otele

Olivette Otele, born in Cameroon in 1970, has made history as the first black woman to be appointed a professor of History in the United Kingdom. With a focus on slavery, colonialism, and post-colonialism, she earned her doctorate from the Sorbonne in Paris. Currently, she teaches History and Memory of Slavery at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, contributing significantly to the academic discourse surrounding these critical subjects.
