Olivia Barrell

Olivia Barrell is an art historian and curator born in Johannesburg, South Africa. With a background in ceramics and a decade spent in Paris studying the history of art, she returned to South Africa to create Art Formes, a gallery dedicated to contemporary sculpture that emphasizes marginalized artistic practices. Through her work, Barrell aims to redefine perceptions of clay and sculpture, advocating for the recognition of earth-based art as deeply significant within South Africa's cultural heritage.
