Omar ibn Abdulaziz was an Umayyad caliph who ruled from 717 to 720 CE. Often referred to as the 'fifth righteous caliph,' he is celebrated for his efforts to reform the administration, improve the welfare of the poor, and promote justice. He is also known for his contributions to Islamic scholarship and for continuing the architectural legacy of his predecessor, Al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik, including enhancements to the Prophet's Mosque in Medina.
