Omar Lucas

Omar Lucas is a Peruvian photographer and documentary filmmaker known for his meticulous approach to visual storytelling. His debut short film, 'Cuando el cielo vuelva a ser azul,' premiered at the Lima Film Festival and poignantly captures the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on funerary practices in Peru, particularly in the Belaúnde cemetery of Comas. With a focus on long takes and ambient sound, Lucas aims to tell the stories of loss and grief without imposing on the memories of those affected. He also directs RUIDO, a cultural center in Lima that fosters artistic exchange and supports emerging voices in the arts.
