Omer Yilmaz

Omer Yilmaz is an associate professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a member of the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. He has conducted significant research on the effects of fasting on cellular regeneration, particularly focusing on how fasting can enhance the ability of intestinal stem cells to recover from injuries and inflammation. His recent studies highlight the distinct physiological states of fasting and refeeding, and how these processes can promote cellular health and regeneration.
