Öreg Mihály
Öreg Mihály, often referred to as the Great Bell of Veszprém, is a historic bell that recently celebrated its 300th anniversary. Cast between 1723 and 1725 at the renowned Grassmayr foundry in Innsbruck, it was commissioned by Imre Esterházy, the Bishop of Veszprém. Having survived both World Wars while most of its companions were repurposed for military use, Öreg Mihály has recently undergone restoration and is poised to be reinstalled, restoring the original harmony of the cathedral's bell ensemble.
