Oriol Carbonell

Oriol Carbonell, a 51-year-old psychologist and head of human resources in Barcelona, became a volunteer for the suicide prevention hotline after witnessing a tragic incident in his neighborhood. When a 76-year-old neighbor, who had become widowed during the pandemic, took his own life, Carbonell felt compelled to act in light of the alarming suicide statistics in Spain. He collaborates with the Ajuda i Esperança foundation, which operates a free, 24/7 suicide prevention hotline in Andorra, aimed at providing support and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
