Osbourne Brumley
Osbourne Brumley is a prominent Jamaican egg farmer whose multimillion-dollar farm in St. Elizabeth parish was devastated by Hurricane Melissa, leading to fears of a nationwide food shortage in Jamaica. At 69 years old, Brumley had built his farm to withstand severe weather conditions, but the unprecedented 185-mph winds of the hurricane destroyed his operations, which once produced approximately 75,000 eggs daily for over 200 supermarkets and 14 hotels across the island. His significant investment of J$540 million (US$3.37 million) is now in ruins, prompting concerns about the future of egg supply in Jamaica.
