Oscar Oviedo

Oscar Oviedo is an environmental engineer and the president of VidaAzul, the oldest foundation in the Dominican Republic dedicated to beach conservation and environmental awareness. Founded in 2007, VidaAzul emerged from Oviedo's response to a tourist's negative review about the state of local beaches and aims to address the persistent issue of plastic pollution in Dominican waters. Under his leadership, the foundation has mobilized hundreds of thousands of volunteers for beach cleanups and has worked to educate communities on the importance of reducing waste and protecting natural resources.
