Ostap Shved
Ostap Shved, known as 'Ostapchik', is a Ukrainian reconnaissance soldier born in Striy. He joined the Azov regiment in 2015 and served in various capacities, including as a medic during critical operations in Mariupol. Shved was captured during the conflict and experienced harrowing conditions as a prisoner, particularly during the tragic explosion at Olenivka prison, where many of his comrades lost their lives. He survived the attack and was released in 2023, subsequently sharing his experiences to honor the memory of those who did not survive and to raise awareness of the atrocities faced by Ukrainian soldiers.
