Pablo Medina Velázquez was a Paraguayan journalist known for his courageous reporting on corruption and drug trafficking. As a correspondent for ABC Color in Curuguaty since 1998, he became a target due to his investigative work that exposed the criminal activities of local politicians, including the mayor of Ypejhú, Vilmar Acosta Marques. Tragically, Medina was assassinated on October 16, 2014, while covering agricultural issues, highlighting the dangers faced by journalists in the region.
