
Paddy Cole
Paddy Cole (1939-2025) was a celebrated Irish showband musician and saxophonist, renowned for his energetic performances and deep love for jazz music. Growing up in Castleblayney, he began his professional career at 15 and gained fame through his work with various showbands, notably the Capitol Showband and Brendan Bowyer and the Big Eight. Cole’s career included performing extensively in Las Vegas, where he mingled with Hollywood stars, and he was an advocate for artists' rights throughout his life. His autobiography, 'Paddy Cole: King of the Swingers,' illustrates his enduring passion for music and life, which he maintained until his passing due to terminal lung cancer in 2025.
