Paddy Mackey

Paddy Mackey is a Nenagh local and environmental activist who co-founded the group SOLD (Save Our Lough Derg) in response to the alarming pollution of Lough Derg, which he witnessed transforming from a pristine lake in his youth to one plagued by toxic algal blooms. Through community mobilization and advocacy, Mackey has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the environmental degradation of the lake and to push for restoration efforts to combat the nutrient pollution that threatens its ecosystem.
