Pal Maleter

Pal Maleter was a Hungarian military officer and politician, best known for his role during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Initially serving as the Minister of Defense under Prime Minister Imre Nagy, Maleter became a symbol of resistance against Soviet oppression. He was involved in military operations to defend the revolutionary government but was ultimately captured during negotiations with Soviet officials. Maleter was executed after the revolution was violently crushed, and he is remembered as a martyr for Hungarian independence and a key figure in the struggle against Soviet tyranny.
