Palaion Patron Germanos, born Georgios on March 25, 1771, in Dimitsana, was a prominent cleric and revolutionary leader during the Greek War of Independence in 1821. He served as the Metropolitan of Patras and played a crucial role in the movement for Greek independence, notably participating in the secret assembly of Vostitsa. His strong moral character, intelligence, and commitment to the Greek cause earned him respect from both the Christian and Muslim communities in the Peloponnese. He was also a member of the Filiki Eteria, a secret organization that aimed to liberate Greece from Ottoman rule. Germanos passed away on May 30, 1826, in Nafplio, leaving a significant legacy in Greek history.
