Pan Jiangwei
Pan Jiangwei (1923-2023) was a prominent Chinese labor leader and a veteran of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Born in Shanghai, he joined the Dongjiang Column during the war, where he was wounded multiple times, ultimately leading to the amputation of his leg in his later years. After the war, he became a significant figure in the labor movement, serving as a vice chairman and later chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (HKFTU). His leadership during the turbulent 1960s and 70s, including the 1967 riots, marked him as a resilient advocate for workers' rights. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored as an 'outstanding patriotic labor movement leader' by the HKFTU. Pan's legacy includes notable participation in the political landscape of Guangdong Province and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
