Papa Leone XII

Pope Leo XII, born Annibale Francesco Clemente Melchiore Girolamo Sermattei della Genga, was the Pope from 1823 until his death in 1829. He is recognized for his conservative policies and efforts to restore the authority of the Papacy following the disruptions of the Napoleonic era. His papacy coincided with significant political changes in Europe, including the restoration of the Papal States, which would have influenced diplomatic relations with figures like Antonio Onofri, who worked to defend the sovereignty of San Marino during this period.
