Papa Pio XI

Pope Pio XI, born Achille Ratti, served as Pope from 1922 until his death in 1939. He is known for his efforts to address the challenges posed by modernity and for his encyclicals on social justice, as well as his role in the Lateran Treaty, which established Vatican City as an independent state. He is often remembered for his diplomatic engagement during a tumultuous period in world history.
