Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar, a resident of Batkote in Pahalgam, was recently arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly providing shelter and support to terrorists involved in a deadly attack on tourists in Baisaran Valley. He, along with his relative, is accused of harboring armed militants affiliated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and has been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
