Patricio Aguilar Vásquez

Patricio Aguilar Vásquez was a prominent Ecuadorian journalist and the director of the community newspaper El Libertador, where he worked for over thirty years. Known for his dedication to reporting on local issues, he was also a member of Compañeros Internacionales de Periodistas y Editores (Conape). Tragically, he was recently in the news due to his assassination during an armed attack in Quinindé, Esmeraldas, on March 4, 2023, highlighting the dangers faced by journalists in conflict-prone areas.
