Tamayo was particularly celebrated for her contributions to traditional Ecuadorian genres such as pasillo, albazo, and sanjuanito. Her powerful voice and heartfelt performances resonated with generations, making her an iconic figure in Ecuadorian culture. Tragically, she passed away on October 21, 2023, at the age of 60 due to respiratory failure.
