Pavel Kharitonenko

Pavel Kharitonenko was a wealthy Ukrainian sugar magnate and art collector who owned the 'Portrait of an Unknown Woman' by Ivan Kramskoy before the Russian Revolution led to the nationalization of his property. His collection played a significant role in the art scene of his time, and after the revolution, his assets were appropriated by the state, leading to the painting eventually being housed in the Tretyakov Gallery.
