Pedro Niada
Pedro 'Peter' Niada is a Chilean diver and former owner of a tourist lodge on Robinson Crusoe Island, known for his harrowing experience during the devastating tsunami that struck on February 27, 2010. As the waves swept away his home, Niada heroically rescued his children and worked tirelessly in the aftermath to help search for victims while grappling with the profound loss of his business, community, and friends. After years of rebuilding his life, he found solace in reconnecting with the ocean and eventually returned to the site of the tragedy on its 15th anniversary.
